I was born in Cali and raised in NJ. Every once in a while I get a little Valley Girl in my talk: Like, really?! I swear I don't have a Jersey accent but everyone around me points out that I say dawg instead of dog, cawfee instead of coffee, and sawce instead of sauce. I am very outgoing and love to be a tourist in my own city. I enjoy planning new outtings and adventures for friends and family and rarely leave the house without my camera! The one time I did, I missed a picture of David meeting his hero, Orel Herschiser!!

I grew up on the Jersey Shore and love going to the beach but won't swim in the ocean (except for the Bahamas) because I am creeped out by the thought of swimming with fish and stepping on a shell or being bitten by a crab! I'll swim in the Bahamas because the water is SO clear! I am an animal lover (particularly cats!!) and have 2 fuzzy, four-legged babies named Nine and Farnsworth, who are my sunshines on a cloudy day. *UPDATE* We currently have a total of FOUR cats now. They're like Lay's potato chips..you can't have JUST ONE! We got Mippy (not pictured) December of 2012 after we had a failed adoption placement of two older boys.

One of my favorite things to do is travel to places I've never been. In the past two years we've been to Orlando, Florida, Nassau, Freeport (Bahamas), Pennsylvania, Cleveland, Milwaukee, Minnesota, Iowa, California, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Ohio, Chicago, Iowa, and Missouri, St. Thomas, Grand Turk, Miami, and Puerto Rico. In the near future we are planning on traveling to Washington, Alaska, and Europe. The best parts about traveling are the planning, getting to try new things and making new memories with friends and family! If I'm being really honest...one of the best parts of travelling is EATING! LOL!!

I am very adventurous and will "try anything twice." Most people will try anything once but I want to make sure that I keep an open mind. My opinion might change later! I have eaten snails, octopus (PULPO!!!), cactus (napales), salt and vinegar crickets, and even a centipede-Hey! It was Mexican flavored!!

I love rollercoasters and free fall rides at amusement parks and one of the most adventurous things I've done is swim with a sting ray off a private island in the Bahamas.
I believe in volunteer work and lots of it! I just finished volunteering as a Big Sister with Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the Midlands, just ended a 2 year run on the board of a support group for birth mothers, am currently the Immediate Past President for the Southwest Omaha Optimist Club where I organized fundraisers and volunteer projects to improve the lives of local children, plan on joining the Junior League of Omaha this year and just signed up to get crisis training for RAINN and I can't think of anything I would like to do more than make someone else's day a little bit better. It's the best cure for the blues!
